More on Target Price Matching

Well, Target has been revising their price matching policy almost daily it seems. I'm really disappointed in their inconsistency with this policy. Just last week I posted with their newest policy that clearly stated that you COULD use both Target and Manufacturer coupons with price matched items.

Well, they have changed the policy yet again (current policy FAQs here) and now you may not use Target coupons with a price match. Well, technically you can, but they will only price match if the price of the item in the competitor's ad is LOWER than the price of the Target Price minus the Target Coupon. Well, simple math and logic tells you that there is no point in wasting your ink on the Target Coupon since the price will be matched anyway.

Example:

Target Price on Item X: $20
-Target Coupon $5
=$15

Walmart Price on Item X: $11

Final Price after Price Adjust: $11

If you are price matching, the price is going to be $11 no matter if you present that Target coupon or not.

Bottom line is...you can still use a manufacturer coupon with an item that is being price matched, but not a Target coupon. This means that unless you are shopping at Target out of convenience, there is no point in price matching many items since the major incentive was the extra Target Coupon savings.
